Just a reminder! Our June membership meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 11:30 AM. Please note, this meeting is being held on the FIRST WEDNESDAY of the month. The meeting will be held in the Boeing Room at the Tallahassee International Airport located at 3300 Capital Circle SW, Tallahassee.
This month we welcome speaker Heather Nelson, Airport Construction Manager – Capital Programs, with the Tallahassee International Airport (TLH). For the June membership meeting, Heather will be presenting an update on the TLH Construction Projects as TLH is undergoing massive change. For over the past 10 years they have renovated the existing terminal building, rehabilitated both Runway 18-36 and Runway 9-27, made improvements to flight information displays, technology backbone upgrades, roadway improvements and most recently are in the middle of the construction for the International Processing Facility. A 40,000 sq. ft. addition which will be home to Customs and Border Protection and be the base for the Foreign Trade Zone which encompasses 11 surrounding counties. TLH isn’t stopping anytime soon. More projects are out for bid with construction starting later this year on grading projects, chiller and central plant replacements, rental car quick turn facility and parking lot lighting improvements.
Heather Nelson, PMP is the Airport Construction Manager at Tallahassee International Airport. Heather has a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of New Mexico, a Master’s Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix and is a Certified Project Manager. She has over 25 years of aviation construction management experience overseeing projects including runway and taxiway rehabilitations, airfield electrical modifications and upgrades, terminal building renovations, roadways, parking lots and new terminal construction. She has been with the City of Tallahassee at the Airport for 10 years. Heather is also active in the local Tallahassee Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction.
Lunch will be available for purchase to those members who RSVP by 12:00 PM Monday, June 3rd.. The lunch will be coming from Jason’s Deli and will include your choice of sub with drinks and a cookie.
